PVC Rod PVC Rod is a very good and useful engineering plastic material that is very popular and has almost limitless uses and application throughout many industries. PVC Rod has many attributes which include, easy to bond, easy to fabricate and machine and also it is very economical although this latter advantage means that it can sometimes be underated for some applications.
PVC Rod Details
PVC Rod is an extruded engineering plastic, which means that it is manufactured by extruding moulten PVC under high pressure, through steel dies. The provides a low cost material that is available in a huge range of sizes. PVC Rod is generally sold in industrial grey colour, although red and also black PVC Rod is available as needed.
One of the reasons why PVC Rod is also popular is the the fact that it has a class one fire rating which means that once any flame has been extinguished, PVC Rod will not continue to burn. This is very important in some high risk applications.
PVC Rod Tips
PVC Rod is not really suited to applications that require high wear or abrasion resistance and so would not be recommended for highly used bearings. PVC Rod also has a lower top end working temperature which is around plus 60°C and also can be affected by very low temperatures where it could become more brittle when the temperature becomes very low.
